This year saw the Second Longbow Fun York Round shoot at “Oakfield Archers” Ground on Fairlop Plain;  Again Seven Archers set out on a round of 6 dozen arrows at 100 yards, 4 dozen at 80 yards and 2 dozen at 60 yards. Shooting ends of six arrows. Again one of our archers had not shot a longbow at 100 yards before.

The Day; Tuesday 10th June started fair, Cloudy with a slight wind and warm. In the afternoon it was sunny and Hot. After agreeing the shooting arrangement it was decided the tournament should be a one way shoot. The days Champion being the one with the highest score (not hits). With a sharp blast from the horn we started at 10am.

Everyone managed to score hits at 100 yards Pat and Ian managed four hits out of six arrows at 100 yards this was a most rewarding experience, at noon the horn was sounded for Lunch afetr six dozen arrows. Lunch was as very refreshing with old style Damson Gin, and Honey Whisky. Back to shooting at 1pm, shooting for the day was shortley after 3pm.

Tony Maher was declared the Champion of the day,  with dues ceremony Tony was presented with a Trophy Goblet together with a commemorative Scroll. It was agreed by all that the “Fun” York round had again been fun and all put it in thier diary’s for 2009.
